Retina Associates, headed by Cameron Javid, MD, delivers ophthalmological care to Tucson, Arizona residents. To keep up with the latest in ophthalmological care, members of the team at Retina Associates belong to professional organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the world’s largest organization of eye surgeons and physicians.
A July 2023 AAO press release announced that the organization launched a membership group to support allied health professionals. The new group, the American Academy of Ophthalmological Professionals (AAOP), will accept nurses, orthoptists, photographers, ophthalmic assistants, technicians, and other clinical team members, in August 2023.
This group offers members the chance to benefit from opportunities for career advancement. They will also benefit from getting the most up-to-date information in the field.
Members can take advantage of training and educational resources. Some of these resources include discounted registration fees and technician track registration at the AAO’s annual meeting, saving them more than over $300 on non-member health professional registration fees. Members also get discounts on items from the AAO store. They can access AAOP Talk, which connects them to the online community, among other benefits.
